SSO: Consumer Price Index and Retail Price Index, August 2022

According to the State Statistical Office data, the Consumer Price Index in August 2022, in comparison with the previous month was 101.3, while the Retail Price Index was 100.6. An increase in the Consumer Price Index in August 2022, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in bread and cereals by 6.4%, fresh or chilled fruit by 3.8%, milk by 3.6%, meat by 2.5%, food products n.e.c by 1.8%, mineral waters, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices by 1.4%, fresh or chilled vegetables other than potatoes and other tubers by 1.3%, beer by 1.2%, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionery by 0.6%, fish and seafood, coffee and tea and cocoa by 0.3%.

In August, there was also an increase in the indices of accommodation services by 27.6%, heat energy by 14.2%, photographic and cinematographic equipment and optical instruments by 12.4%, stationery and drawing materials by 6.4%, miscellaneous printed matter by 5.8%, restaurants, cafes and the like by 3.0%, solid fuels for household by 2.8%, passenger transport by road by 2.6%, non-durable household goods by 2.5%, domestic services and household services by 2.2%, services for the maintenance and repair of the dwelling by 1.8%, repair of audio-visual, photographic and information processing equipment by 1.5%, motor cars by 1.4%, materials for the maintenance and repair of the dwelling by 0.9%, repair of furniture, furnishings, and floor coverings by 0.8%, small electric household appliances by 0.7%, furniture and furnishings by 0.4%, pharmaceutical products, gardens, plants and flowers, other personal effects by 0.3%, garments, repair and hire of clothing, repair of household appliances, small tools and miscellaneous accessories, other medical products, other services in respect of personal transport equipment, cultural services, jewellery, clocks and watches, other financial services n.e.c. by 0.2%.

A decrease in the Consumer Price index in August 2022, in comparison with the previous month, was registered in oils and fats by 4.1%.

In August, there was also a decrease of indices of fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment by 10.9%, liquid fuels for household by 10.3%, passenger transport by air by 5.3%, information processing equipment by 3.1%, package holidays by 2.9%, shoes and footwear by 2.3%, games, toys and hobbies by 1.5%, gas for household by 1.4%, spare parts and accessories for personal transport equipment by 1.1%, bicycles by 0.8%, carpets and other floor coverings by 0.6%, books by 0.3%, major tools and equipment, therapeutic appliances and equipment by 0.2%. The Consumer Price Index in August 2022, in comparison with August 2021, increased by 16.8%, while Retail Price Index increased by 14.2%.
